" DUBLIN – It often starts as a voice in the wilderness, but can swell into an entire nation's demand for truth. From Ireland to Germany, Europe's many victims of child abuse in the Roman Catholic church are finally breaking social taboos and confronting the clergy to face its demons.
Ireland was the first in Europe to confront the church's worldwide custom of shielding pedophile priests from the law and public scandal. Now that legacy of suppressed childhood horror is being confronted in other parts of the Continent — nowhere more poignantly than in Germany, the homeland of Pope Benedict XVI.
The recent spread of claims into the Netherlands, Austria and Italy has analysts and churchmen wondering how deep the scandal runs, which nation will be touched next, and whether a tide of lawsuits will force European dioceses to declare bankruptcy like their American cousins.
You have to presume that the cover-up of abuse exists everywhere, to one extent or another. A new case could appear in a new country tomorrow," said David Quinn, director of a Christian think tank, the Iona Institute, that seeks to promote family values in an Ireland increasingly cool to Catholicism."

Scandal in the Catholic Church even at the highest echelon of power, has been quite common for over a thousand years. The history of most of the unholy popes reads like a sodomite novel. The worst popes (documented on the previous link) seem to have also created the most church dogma and unbiblical doctrines. Why would the all powerful popes who could have their enemies executed or excommunicated at their whim, not create or change "Christian" doctrines or dogmas to suit their pleasures? Victims, government inquiries and grand juries have all charged that the Catholic Church created what amounted to a conspiracy to cover up abuse by keeping allegations that priests raped and molested children secret and not reporting them to civil authorities. CITY (AP) - The Vatican on Monday made clear FOR THE FIRST TIMEthat bishops and other church officials should report clerical sex abuse to police if required by law. But the policy failed to satisfy victims who charge that the church deliberately hid abuse for decades.
Every devout Catholic should be DEMANDING the truth from their leaders concerning this terrible scandal, they should DEMAND the removal of those leaders (including the Pope) and DEMAND a complete overhaul of the institution because even in the Catholic Church, the PEOPLE ARE ALSO THE CHURCH, NOT JUST THE HIERARCHY!

The most horrible news is that then Cardinal Ratzinger (now the Pope) was directly involved with covering up these horrible crimes:
Five years ago he sent out an updated version of the notorious 1962 Vatican document Crimen Sollicitationis - Latin for The Crime of Solicitation - which laid down the Vatican's strict instructions on covering up sexual scandal. It was regarded as so secret that it came with instructions that bishops had to keep it locked in a safe at all times.
Cardinal Ratzinger reinforced the strict cover-up policy by introducing a new principle: that the Vatican must have what it calls Exclusive Competence. In other words, he commanded that all child abuse allegations should be dealt with direct by Rome.
Patrick Wall, a former Vatican-approved enforcer of the Crimen Sollicitationis in America, tells the programme: "I found out I wasn't working for a holy institution, but an institution that was wholly concentrated on protecting itself."
Let it be known that anyone whose Christianity and/ or salvation is primarily based upon having blind obedience to a church, a leader, system or institution, (whether Catholic or Protestant) instead of primarily following Christ and obeying His Word, is in grave spiritual danger.

Munich diocese faces "tsunami" of abuse claims AP MUNICH Pope Benedict XVI's former diocese is facing new allegations of physical and sexual abuse on a daily basis, the head of its new sex-abuse task force said Friday."It is like a tsunami,"there are about 120 cases on the record to date, around 100 of them at the nearby Ettal monastery boarding school, run by Benedictine monks. She stresses, however, her role is not to deal with the old cases, but help set up the prevention program.
