BUSH AIDED LAWBREAKING ILLEGALS ![]() from Worldnetdaily.com letters to the editor -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- President Bush refers to the illegal aliens who break the law to come here, break the law to stay here and break the law to work here as hardworking, law-abiding folks. In the same speech, President Bush says we are a nation of laws while he is openly refusing to enforce existing immigration law. Is there a competency requirement for the presidency? Tom Goodpaster -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Send Bush to Mexico -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please don't get the idea that I'm a left-wing nutcase, because I'm not. I call myself a strict constitutionist, whose heroes include Rep. Ron Paul, Howard Phillips and Alan Keyes. But the fact is that I'm furious at President Bush, and I believe he should be impeached. He refuses to protect our nation from invasion (illegal immigration), he sends our military overseas to fight without a formal congressional Declaration of War (Iraq), and he signs bills into law that give the federal government powers and responsibilities that are not clearly defined in the Constitution (prescription drugs, foreign aid, etc.). He continues to ignore the Ninth and 10th Amendments regarding federal authority over state issues (welfare, medical marijuana, highways, etc.). He is not worthy of the privilege of holding such high an office and should therefore be impeached. Send him back home to Texas – or better yet, Mexico! Chris Ghent -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Honorable illegals? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- President Bush recently called illegal immigrants honorable. This is why they are not: They violated our sovereign borders. They violated U.S. immigration laws. They violate U.S. tax law by failing to file income to the Internal Revenue Service. They violate numerous state and federal laws to acquire jobs by acquiring and using forged or false documents. [They] participate in identity theft by using someone else's Social Security number (also a federal crime, not to mention the confusion and possible loss of benefits to the rightful owner.) [They steal] wages from those who would work if their jobs were not illegally taken and the wages not artificially depressed by illegal aliens. Fritz Ackerman -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Entitlement mindset -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Let us just say for one moment that McCain and Kennedy get their amnesty bill passed. When these illegal aliens who broke the law to get here, or those who overstayed their welcome, will become "legalized" – in other words, when they will no longer need to hide – who is to say that they will continue to work for the meager wages that they are willing to work for now? If now that they are illegal they are openly "demonstrating for rights," how much more when they are legal? Will they not then also demand higher wages, more entitlements and more welfare?
